Macau Police Officers Detained over Casino Junket Extortion Claims
Macau authorities intelligence officers had been arrested for allegedly operating casino extortion racket focusing on VIP junket operators that are regarded as working with a major gambling place into the Chinese administrative region, local media reported on Friday.
Based on reports, 12 officers from the criminal cleverness product of Macau’s Public protection Police had been arrested during Thursday raids. And it seems that some of these detained happen holding senior articles in the force for more than ten years.
The extortion racket was run for quite some time and had presumably targeted a few VIP junket operators working together with among the major casinos within the popular gambling hub. Generally, gambling venues hire junket companies to attract roller that is high from Mainland China and the Asia-Pacific area and also to attract them to Macau.
An unnamed source reported that an extortion racket had been run by the arrested officers and they demanded cash from one or several junket companies operating within the casino. In line with the supply, the amount of money those involved in the racket had gathered would not be ‘inconsiderable.’
