Monthly revenue reports are in, and casinos in both Detroit and Northwest Indiana saw declines for April set alongside the exact same month year that is last. Officials say they are hoping this will be just a blip not just a trend.
The Greektown casino in Detroit is credited with helping bring the town back to life, and until April the their income numbers were confirming since much.
In April, regional casino clients gambled $668.5 million, down from $698.5 a 12 months ago. Table game play was up slightly, from $83.1 million to $83.5 million.
‘It’s really two stories that are divergent’ Horseshoe Casino Senior Vice President and General Manager Dan Nita told NCI.com. ‘Table games continue to be quite stable — and growing ever so slightly. Regrettably, that can’t offset the decline within the slot business.’
Northwest Indiana gambling enterprises in these tallies consist of Ameristar in East Chicago, the Horseshoe in Hammond, Michigan City’s Blue Chip, and the Majestic Star in Gary. While all saw revenue that is year-over-year in March, they mightn’t keep the streak going for April.
The three casinos that are detroit-area saw similar but not so drastic email address details are the MGM Grand Detroit, the MotorCity Casino Hotel, and Greektown.
